Gullco KATBAK ceramic weld pool fuses

Our KATBAK ceramic weld pool fuses are made of high quality and high temperature resistant pressed ceramic. The ceramic pieces are attached by means of self-adhesive aluminum tape under the weld seam, catch the liquid weld pool and form, by their geometry, a perfect root. The use of our ceramic bath protectors offers high process reliability and economy. The deposition rate can be increased, as burn-through is almost impossible. Post-processing times for grinding and jointing are also significantly reduced.

Fields of application and methods

Ceramic weld pool fuses are mainly used in plant, apparatus, ship, bridge, pressure vessel, steel and tank construction. They are suitable for all common welding processes such as MIG/MAG welding with solid and flux cored wire, submerged arc welding, E-hand welding or TIG welding. Our ceramic bath fuses can be used on steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Economic efficiency

The use of KATBAK ceramic weld pool fuses offers a very high level of process reliability and enables one-sided welding, thus eliminating the need to weld the mating layer, which has explicit cost and time benefits for large components. The root can be welded with increased welding parameters, thus a higher deposition rate is achieved. Root defects are reduced to a minimum by weld pool protection, as well as post-processing times for grinding and joints. Deviations in the gap dimension are compensated by the bath fuse without adjusting the welding parameters and can be welded without additional alignment.

Packaging units and lengths

Gullco offers packaging units of 6 – 12 m/carton depending on the type. The ceramic parts are applied to 600 mm of self-adhesive aluminum foil and can be easily attached to the component. The individual ceramic parts have a length of 6.3 – 25.4 mm. All our bath fuses are vacuum welded to protect against moisture and increase durability.
Upon request, we can also offer you larger packaging units.

Quality and safety

The quality and safety of our ceramic weld pool fuses is very important to us, which is why we only use high-quality raw materials and avoid the use of any hazardous substances. Through the constant monitoring of the baking temperature, we ensure a consistently high quality standard. Our aluminum adhesive tape has degassing holes to avoid the buildup of gas pressure, this ensures a high holding force on the sheet.

Your safety and health are our top priority!!!

Frequently asked questions to Gullco ceramic bath fuses

How often can I use a ceramic weld pool fuse?

During the welding process, a kind of silicate is formed on the surface of the bath fuse, Therefore, it can be used only once.

Is the bath fuse economical at all, even though I can only use it once?

The use of ceramic weld pool fuses offers very high process reliability, root defects are avoided, the deposition rate can be increased and post-processing times for grinding and joints are significantly reduced. All these advantages make the use of weld pool fuse very economical.

Can I also use ceramic bath fuses on the pipe?

Our weld pool fuses are also available in 6.3 mm denominations, which means that the weld pool fuse adapts to the contour of the pipe.

Which welding processes are suitable for ceramic bath fuses?

They are suitable for all common welding processes such as MIG/MAG welding with solid and flux cored wire, submerged arc welding, E-hand welding or TIG welding.

Can I use weld pool fuses at all in my seam preparation?

Gullco offers a suitable weld pool fuse for all common seam preparations. Our brochure gives you an overview of the possible applications of the individual types.
