Gullco KATBAK ceramic weld pool fuses

Our KATBAK ceramic weld pool protectors are made of high-quality, high-temperature resistant pressed ceramic. The ceramic pieces are attached under the weld seam using self-adhesive aluminum tape, catch the liquid weld pool and, thanks to their geometry, form a perfect root. The use of our ceramic weld pool retainers offers high process reliability and efficiency. The deposition rate can be increased as burn-through is almost impossible. Post-processing times for grinding and jointing are also significantly reduced.

Areas of application and procedures

Ceramic weld pool fuses are mainly used in plant, apparatus, ship, bridge, pressure vessel, steel and tank construction. They are suitable for all common welding processes such as MIG/MAG welding with solid and flux-cored wire, submerged arc welding, manual metal arc welding or TIG welding. Our ceramic bath fuses can be used on steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Economic efficiency

The use of KATBAK ceramic weld pool fuses offers a very high level of process reliability and enables single-side welding, eliminating the need to weld the backing layer, which has an explicit impact on costs and time for large components. The root can be welded with increased welding parameters, thus achieving a higher deposition rate. Root defects are reduced to a minimum by the weld pool protection, as are reworking times for grinding and joints. Deviations in gap dimensions are compensated for by the weld pool filler without adjusting the welding parameters and can be welded without additional alignment.

Packaging units and lengths

Depending on the type, Gullco offers packaging units of 6 - 12 m/box. The ceramic parts are applied to 600 mm of self-adhesive aluminum foil and can be easily attached to the component. The individual ceramic parts have a length of 6.3 - 25.4 mm. All of our bathroom fuses are vacuum-welded to protect them from moisture and increase their service life.
We can also offer you larger packaging units on request.

Quality and safety

The quality and safety of our ceramic weld pool fuses is very important to us, which is why we only use high-quality raw materials and avoid the use of any hazardous substances. By constantly monitoring the baking temperature, we guarantee a consistently high standard of quality. Our aluminum adhesive tape has degassing holes to prevent the build-up of gas pressure, which ensures a high holding force on the sheet.

Your safety and health are our top priority!!!

Frequently asked questionsto Gullco ceramic bathroom fuses

How often can I use a ceramic weld pool fuse?

During the welding process, a type of silicate forms on the surface of the bath fuse, which is why it can only be used once.

Is the bathroom fuse economical even though I can only use it once?

The use of ceramic weld pool fuses offers a very high level of process reliability, root defects are avoided, the deposition rate can be increased and post-processing times for grinding and jointing are significantly reduced. All these advantages make the use of weld pool fuses very economical.

Can I also use ceramic bath fuses on the pipe?

Our weld pool retainers are also available in 6.3 mm denominations, allowing the pool retainers to adapt to the contour of the pipe.

Which welding processes are suitable for ceramic bathroom fuses?

They are suitable for all common welding processes such as MIG/MAG welding with solid and cored wire, submerged arc welding, manual metal arc welding or TIG welding.

Can I use weld pool fuses at all for my seam preparation?

Gullco offers a suitable weld pool fuse for all common seam preparations. Our brochure gives you an overview of the possible applications of the individual types.
