Our KBM-18 & KBM-28 seam edge milling machines are used worldwide for chamfering steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Sheet thicknesses of 6 - 50 mm can be processed at an angle of 22.5° - 55°. No heat is introduced into the component during the shearing process, so there is no thermal overload of the bevel edge as with plasma or oxyfuel cutting. The slowly rotating cutting blade reduces noise and vibration to a minimum. All these advantages reduce your costs for chamfering sheet metal and relieve the user.
The chamfering machines from Gullco work with round cutting blades instead of indexable inserts like many other machines. Due to the rotation of the cutting blade, the machine automatically guides itself along large sheets, the feeding of hand sheets is of course also possible. The working speed is 3m/min, no matter how much material is sheared off. The standard versions of our machines can only process the top side of the sheets. To avoid the inconvenience of turning the sheets, we have developed the KBM-18U and KBM-28U versions. These machines have a turned cutting head and can chamfer sheets from below.
The high shearing speed of 3 m/min makes seam preparation particularly economical. At the same time, the user is relieved as noise, heat, vibrations and impurities in the air are almost completely eliminated. Due to the rotation of the blade, our machines move along the component independently, allowing the user to carry out other work or operate a second machine during this time.

There is no general answer to this question. The tool life is highly dependent on the material, the chamfer angle and the chamfer length. On average, we achieve a tool life of 2 - 2.5 km chamfer length.
Yes, the knife must be resharpened on a surface grinder after approx. 200-250 m of seam edge. You are welcome to send us your blunt knives for processing.
Many of our customers mount the seam edge trimmer on a workbench in a central position. This allows all employees quick access to the machine, and short pieces of sheet metal can be chamfered quickly and easily.
Our rental fleet includes several seam edge trimmers. Instruction is obligatory when hiring for the first time. We look forward to your inquiry!
